Project overview
The 2nd Dug Hill Road urbanization project includes the installation of:
A new multi-use pathway separated from the road with a boulevard
A sidewalk on the west side, separated by a grassed boulevard
Image: Design rendering of new multi-use pathway and sidewalk
The new multi-use pathway will be installed on 2nd Dug Hill from Highway 2 south for approximately 1.6 km and will connect with additional trails being installed along 2nd Dug Hill Road as part of the Trenton West End Trunk Sewer Project.
Construction for the permanent multi-use pathway, originally scheduled to be installed in the summer and fall of 2025, has been delayed to spring/summer 2026. The project start date has been moved due to a delivery delay for a critical pipe for the 2nd Dug Hill Road stormwater pond, which is required to be installed prior to road work beginning.
Until the permanent multi-use pathway is installed, a temporary 1.5m asphalt millings pathway will be constructed from Highway 2 to Appledene Drive (see Figure 1 below) along the east side of 2nd Dug Hill Road. The temporary pathway installation is scheduled for November/December 2025 construction.
