Consultation has concluded

Municipalities in Ontario use Development Charges (DCs) to recover growth related capital costs associated with residential and non-residential growth. In accordance with the Development Charges Act, DCs are collected at the building permit stage to help the City pay for municipal services needed to support the new development. These services include, water, wastewater, emergency services, roads and more.

The City of Quinte West is currently undertaking a Development Charge Background Study to determine what additional capital related infrastructure the municipality will require based on the growth forecast.

The information gathered through the Background Study will be used to calculate the

The information gathered through the Background Study will be used to calculate the amount of money that must be collected through the Development Charges Fee. These fees help the City mitigate the additional growth related costs from being passed onto the taxpayer.

This study is being prepared in partnership with Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. (Watson)

Consultation Period #1

Currently the City of Quinte West is seeking public input on a draft version of the study, which can be located in the “Documents” section, on the right hand side of this page. Input will be collected online until October 21 and presented to the City’s Finance Committee on November 4, during the statutory public meeting.

In order to express comments at the public meeting, contact the City Clerk at clerk@quintewest.ca and you will be provided with a link to attend the virtual meeting. Alternately, submit your comments in writing to the City Clerk at the address below prior to October 31, 2020.
