Enjoy the mosaic of Quinte West
2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the amalgamation of the City of Quinte West in 1998. To celebrate, the City is marking the anniversary with a series of public art installations and community celebrations.
Now on display, “Quinte West Mosaic” is the next installation of the Art on the Trent public art program.
The exhibit displays 16 oversize outdoor photos of individual mosaic tiles painted by amateur and experienced Quinte West community members. The artwork on the tiles celebrate some of the imagery, history and stories of our growing community.
The tiles on exhibit were picked from the over 300 community mosaic tiles painted by Quinte West community members as part of the City’s June 27 Multiculturalism Day celebrations. All of the 300+ Quinte West mosaic tiles have been put together as part of the City’s 25th anniversary mosaic mural that will be unveiled at a community event later this year.
The “Quinte West Mosaic” exhibit will be on display in the art frame locations until early 2024.
The Quinte West 25th Anniversary Mosaic Mural will be installed at Quinte West City hall and unveiled on November 15.
Art on the Trent outdoor art frames
In 2023, the City purchased eight oversize outdoor photo frame structures to showcase rotating outdoor public art displays throughout the year in Quinte West.
The oversize art frames will be located in Riverfront Square, Centennial Park and Frankford Tourist.
The City now owns the frames and will use these pieces to continuously program public art in outdoor public spaces on an on-going basis.
