Quinte West is seeking input through a Request for Information (RFI) process for 13 hectares of surplus land located west of the North Murray Industrial Park.
The Housing Action Plan focuses on reducing barriers to housing development, streamlining approval processes, and increasing the supply of affordable and attainable housing throughout the community. The plan also aligns the City’s housing priorities with available resources to help deliver meaningful and lasting results.
Overall, the City is committed to creating housing opportunities that support population growth and encourage the development of complete and inclusive communities across Quinte West.
To support housing growth and increase the supply of affordable and attainable housing, the City is exploring opportunities to develop a mixed-income residential community on a surplus parcel of municipally owned land.
Project information:
In March 2026, the City of Quinte West Council declared a 13-hectare vacant parcel of land north of downtown Trenton and west of the North Murray Industrial Park as surplus.
The site offers an opportunity to support City objectives by developing a mixed-income residential community.
Development of the site could foster collaboration among developers, non-profit organizations, service providers and residents.
The City’s RFI seeks input from developers and non-profit organizations on:
Prospective development projects and creative ideas for the vision of this community.
Opportunities for encouraging the exploration of new partnerships between developers and non-profit housing organizations for the development of the lands.
Suggestions regarding the level of municipal support needed to improve the feasibility of affordable housing development options.
The RFI submission deadline is July 23, 2026, at 2 p.m.
