Quinte West celebrates 25 years of community

2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the amalgamation of the City of Quinte West in 1998. Join us in celebrating the 25th anniversary at number of free community activities and initiatives that tell the story of our growing community.

On April 14th, Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison and members of Council unveiled the '25 Years of Community' photography exhibit. Officially open to the public on World Art Day, Saturday, April 15, the '25 Years of Community' showcases 16 photos marking some of the people, places, events, milestones and transformations that have shaped Quinte West over the years. This exhibit is part of the City's new ‘Art on the Trent’ public art program.

“We are pleased to have these new art structures throughout Quinte West that display the local talent in our community,” says Mayor Jim Harrison. “These structures show the City’s dedication to supporting and showcasing the arts community within our city.”

As part of the 'Art on the Trent’ public art program, the City will continuously program public art in outdoor public spaces on an on-going basis.

Stop in and see the photos on display in RiverFront Square, Centennial Park and Frankford Tourist Park between April 15 and the end of August.

Celebrate World Art Day - Saturday, April 15

Each year on April 15th the City of Quinte West celebrates World Art Day. We celebrate by honouring and respecting the passion and creativity in all artists in our community. Art comes in many different forms, architecture, music, painting, sculpting, dance, literature and even cinema. Overall, art is a way for people to express themselves through creativity and World Art Day highlights that expression.

World Art Day, a celebration to promote the development, diffusion and enjoyment of art, was proclaimed at the 40th session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 2019.
