    Good Day,

    It's Wednesday, March 30th at around 10:15 am and I just heard a horrific car accident outside my door. I live on Dundas Street West at the high collision intersection at Duffering/Dundas. There was a white Quinte West van with 2 young men who immediately and professionally took control of the scene. There were many people milling about so I didn't go outside but I wish I had to give these two young men a salute and thank them for their amazing work.     Bev Woods is our Community Hero.


    Bev is the Founder and President of a local non-profit charity, Gift from the Heart. She has just acquired an ambulance that she refitted to provide Free dental hygiene services to our residents that are not able to afford or access these services.


    She is one of a kind!!! A Heart of Gold.

    I have seen her at our local food banks handing out much need products, big smiles, and lots of TLC.

    For those who are struggling, Bev is giving them a reason to SMILE again and stop hiding behind their masks.

    I would like to nominate Amy Claxton. Amy works at Trenton High School as the arts teacher in the intermediate department.She is supportive, patient and always seems to have time for her students. She recently put together a full day of activities including an escape room that the students and herself had been working on. It was a welcome break from our new “normal” class life.

    On March 4th, our mom’s neighbour, Ava Patterson, along with her boyfriend Nolan Price were leaving to go to work when this very fortunate faith came into play. Having to come to the north side of Nolan’s vehicle, Ava had to pass by our mother’s front porch where she happened to spy Jean lying on the ground.     I would like to nominate Mike Haggart & Lynda Millar they have been feeding those on our streets for over a year., During the pandemic they went out everyday during the cold with some of their team members and made sure they were fed. They even went to some seniors homes and dropped off food handed out masks & hand sanitizer, They make sure everyone is looked after with tents /sleeping bags/ clothing/ boots/ emergency blankets/ thermal blankets/ battery operated lights/Hygiene item's/ They are the true meaning of hero's

    During the hectic past year, when there was a need for everything, Duncan Armstrong organized both a nightly make noise group, and a group of women, who were sewing at a mad pace, to supply hospitals and nursing homes with masks and surgical caps. When the almost everyone had their own masks and the desperate need was no longer there, this group continued to sew to donate a huge amount to the hospital.     Duncan Armstrong is your man. He’s not only helping health care workers. He is sitting in a tent on a cold night. Making money and collecting food for those on the street. He is so busy delivering goodys to health care places, as well as old age homes. He never for gets any one. He still finds time for friends as well.     Duncan is a amazing friend and person in general if you need something he is your man always helping and spending his days delivering donations and making sure everyone is smiling.
