Test Your Smoke Alarm

Thursday Sept. 28, 2023, is Ontario's first Test Your Smoke Alarm Day!

Last year there were 133 fire fatalities in the province – the most in 20 years.

To help keep residents safe, the City of Quinte West has partnered with Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal's Saved by the Beep program.

As part of the program, Quinte West residents are encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety, and home fire escape planning, which can save the lives of you and your loved ones.

Having a properly-working smoke alarms in your home is the law. Avoid fines or charges by testing your smoke alarms and replacing their batteries regularly.


Request a home visit from Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services

Between August 28 and September 28, the Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services will be visiting neighbourhoods and residences throughout Quinte West and knocking on doors to help check fire alarms.

Need help making sure your fire alarms are in good working order, or installing or replacing smoke alarms in your home?

Quinte West residents can request a home visit from Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services representatives by completing the request form below.

A Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services representative will contact you to review your request and arrange a home visit.
