In the Mix spreading his Cheer and Goodwill
Sometimes the people we see and hear every day are community heroes we take for granted or don't consider to be special in their craft. My uncle Sean Kelly is most certainly a community hero - especially in these challenging times. Sean has been doing all he can to bring the community together in humorous and heartwarming ways. Sean goes to work every single day and I doubt has ever thought about the risks to his own personal health or safety because there is nothing that would keep him from doing his job for the residents of Quinte West. Ensuring his community is informed and aware of all newsworthy developments in this crisis is important to him. But more important than that is his desire to stay connected in this time of social distancing. Sean wants to make people learn and laugh as much as he can. He undoubtedly gets this from having grown up in a house with 10 siblings, many of whom are teachers! Sean has become a teacher of life. Sean is always working hard at keeping his family connected at this time by participating - very actively - in a family chat group - always sharing stories, pictures, videos of himself dancing in sweatpants, etc. to make sure we all have a chuckle, even when we are going through our own personal struggles. Sean has also helped start a new family tradition where we all listen to him on CJBQ Sunday mornings together. We all live in different parts of the province and world, but many of us tune in on Sunday mornings and enjoy listening to his special guest interviews and the music he so expertly chooses to play for all. It is heartwarming to hear locals call in and thank him for putting on an excellent radio show that is clearly enjoyed by many in these times of "staying home'. We all need entertainment and it is in short supply these days. Thank you to Sean for carrying this torch and doing his absolute best to bring us all together during COVID.
