Life Saver!
by Bucket, almost 4 years agoOn behalf of our mother, Jean Ogden, words can’t express our deepest thanks to our nominee’s.On March 4th, our mom’s neighbour, Ava Patterson, along with her boyfriend Nolan Price were leaving to go to work when this very fortunate faith came into play. Having to come to the north side of Nolan’s vehicle, Ava had to pass by our mother’s front porch where she happened to spy Jean lying on the ground. Their swift actions resulted with an arrival to TMH emergency department, narrowly bringing her back from hyperthermia. Our mom had suffered a stroke and given different luck... Continue reading

Feeding the homeless
by starrunnerca, almost 4 years agoI would like to nominate Lynda Millar and Mike Haggart. They work endlessly to make sure the homeless are taken care of, Meals are prepared for them, tents and warm clothing provided, personal items. We have a centre at 56 Elgin St where we can feed them hot meals, get them out of the cold, provide them with what they need. They continuously use their own funds to help provide them with what they need. They help provide housing by working directly with Ontario Works. I think these 2 people really deserve to be nominated. -

Community!
by Jo Anne, almost 4 years agoI would like to nominate Duncan Armstrong of Trenton for his unwavering desire to help his community during Covid. Duncan wholeheartedly jumped in from the very beginning with his commitment and generosity of time to help his community in so many creative ways. He has succeeded at making a great difference for individuals, organizations and long term care in our community over the past many months coming up on a year. Duncan’s contagious commitment spurred on others to join in and spread the love! -

Free masks !
by Danielle coons , over 4 years agoI would like to nominate Rachel Herrington of Trenton. As soon as the covid risk came to us, she started making masks for free for those who needed them. Not only did she make them for free but she also delivered them to your home for free. She then furthered this and set up stations in Trenton and Belleville for you to get masks when needed. This past weekend she set up outside her home offering free adult and child masks. Again, all on her own time and with no cost. I believe she’s made over 2000 masks now. Also... Continue reading

Many many masks!
by debbie1, over 4 years agoI remember when the first call came out for masks and Lesley Poper was quick to respond. We first met Lesley and Ted Poper overseas. They were always involved in the Canadian community in Germany when we lived over there and always involved with volunteer positions. They are both retired from the military now. She is one of those quiet unassuming volunteers and worked many hours making masks for the hospitals.

Trailer owning saviour
by AmandaNerpin, over 4 years agoCraig Spencer is an everyday hero putting on a uniform going to work for our armed forces, but he is my current covid hero. I am a PSW in a covid positive nursing home that had direct contact with a positive resident. This man that I had never met in my life, not only dropped off his trailer in my driveway but made sure it was stocked full of the necessities including propane for heat so that I could isolate from my family to keep them safe. Then he proceeded to check in on me regularly to make sure I... Continue reading

14 year old Jordan Harmond sells art for charity
by Yodasmema, over 4 years agoI’d like to I share what my daughter is doing. She has been painting and selling her paintings for donations. With all donations she gets she donates to the TMHF fight covid fund and the Quinte Humane Society. In her first three weeks Jordan was able to raise $100.00 for each charity.
Jordan has made her second donation to the hospital yesterday for $100.00. She is just too a few dollars away from her second donation of 100.00 to the humane society.
Jordan has no painting training and has never taken a class. She is 14 and a student at... Continue reading

Sewing COVID Masks and Gowns for Quinte Health Care
by TPop, over 4 years agoMy wife Lesley Poper has recently been keeping busy sewing COVID masks and isolation gowns for Quinte Health Care, through the Fun With Stitches quilting store. Lesley volunteered to sew and assemble 25 gowns and donated enough of her own cloth material to sew over 50 masks, giving them to Quinte Health Care and mailing some to elderly friends around the province, at no charge to anyone.
Lesley never looks for credit or recognition for her various other community volunteering, helping me to pickup trash along the bottom end of County Rd 40, or assisting with cutting the grass at... Continue reading
