A new trunk sewer is being installed in the west end of Trenton from summer 2025 until spring 2027. This project will support growth in the west end of the city and increase water and sewer capacity for up to 5,000 new homes.
What is a trunk sewer?
A trunk sewer is a large, underground sewer line that collects wastewater from smaller sewers and carries it to a treatment plant.
Small sewers, such as those from homes, businesses and streets, feed into collector sewers, which then flow into large trunk sewers.
What work does this project involve?
This work will include the installation of a new underground water and sewer main that will extend from downtown to the west end of the city, including:
Fraser Park Drive
Albert Street
Creswell Drive
Victoria Avenue
Dufferin Avenue
2nd Dug Hill Road
Highway 2
Residents and commuters can expect lane, road and sidewalk closures in the west end of Trenton while this project is completed.
Project timeline
Phase 1: 2nd Dug Hill Road from Hillside Meadows to Loyalist Parkway
This project will begin with a trunk sewer installation on 2nd Dug Hill Road between the Hillside Meadows subdivision and Loyalist Parkway. To accommodate this work, a road closure is planned for this area. Work began in the summer of 2025 and will continue until late winter 2026.
More information on the next phases of this project will be provided when available.
